Motorola unveils MOTO W7 Active edition handset

Motorola has unveiled the Moto W7 Active Edition, a motion-enabled 3G1 mobile device equipped with an accelerometer that senses the user's body motions, orientation and hand gestures to perform tasks.

The integrated pedometer keeps a track of the steps taken while running or walking and helps plan a workout. In addition, the personal trainer application allows one to set workout goals, make workout profiles and check summary reports.

According to Alain Mutricy, senior vice president, Motorola Mobile Devices, “For those who are always on the move, the MOTO W7 Active Edition is designed to keep up with the pace. The accelerometer technologies put a new spin on the traditional relationship we have with our phone by not only simplifying how you use it, but making it more fun in the process.”

Other features found on the MOTO W7 include a built-in MP3 player, an integrated FM Radio and full screen video viewing, while a 2-megapixel camera is good to capture candid shapshots wherever you are, whreas the secondary VGA camera works great for video calls when keeping in touch with friends and family. This 3G-enabled handset will be out in Q2 this year in Asia and Latin America, with no mention about a Stateside release. You can choose from Licorice and Alpine White colors. Doesn’t look like it will pull Motorola out of the doldrums though.

The Motorola Evoke QA4

Motorola Evoke QA4

Motorola might be in the doldrums at the moment as each step they take does not seem to result in phenomenal sales of sorts, which can get rather depressing when you think about it. After all, they seem to have fallen into being a victim of their own success, where everything else after the RAZR just failed to capture the imagination of the masses, leading to the quandary where they’re at today. Still, it is nice to see them not throwing in the towel just yet, as it will be a sad day when Motorola is no longer part of the cell phone industry.

This time round, we have the Motorola Evoke QA4 that was announced officially. First of all, the Motorola Evoke QA4 is but a socially-inclined device that comes with a 2.8″ full touch screen display to make navigation and usage a snap. A wide variety of messaging styles are supported by the Evoke, where you will be able to benefit from a full touch-screen QWERTY keyboard as well as a slide out traditional keypad if you’re more inclined towards actual buttons.

Your home screen content can be further customized with integrated widgets and personalized RSS feeds, where you are able to take advantage of the full HTML browser to share pictures, videos and other files online.

Motorola: Experience Aura!

The display is the product of fine crafting as well. Just 1.55-inches in diameter, this "word's first" circular cellphone screen features 16 million colors and 300 dpi clarity, plus it's coated with 62-carat sapphire crystal to prevent scratching.

Internally, the phone is quad band with GPRS and EDGE featuring 7.3 hours of talk time, 2GB of internal memory, AGPS and 2MP camera.

The Aura is undoubtedly a looker, thanks to its uniquely eye-catching screen. And it includes some very high-end components such as a polished stainless steel casing, which takes nearly two weeks to sculpt, etch and polish, apparently.

It's held together with nickel chrome-plated screws and includes a hardened steel gear mechanism for the swivel action too. This is a phone that's clearly built to last, and if you value a handset that will see you through the years in style, immune to the latest nips and tucks of technology, Motorola might just have something here.
